तस्य तद् वचनम् श्रुत्वा राघवस्य महात्मनः ।
गच्छन्न् एव आचचक्षे अथ सुग्रीवः तत् महद् वनम् ॥ ॥४-१३-१६॥
tasya tad vacanam śrutvā rāghavasya mahātmanaḥ । gacchann eva ācacakṣe atha sugrīvaḥ tat mahad vanam ॥ ॥4-13-16॥
Translation
Hearing those words of the great-souled Raghava, Sugriva, while continuing to walk, began to describe that great forest.
हिंदी अनुवाद
महात्मा राघव (राम) के उन वचनों को सुनकर, सुग्रीव ने चलते-चलते ही उस महान वन के विषय में बताना आरम्भ किया।
English Commentary
Sugriva responds immediately to the Mahatma (great-souled) Raghava. The phrase gacchann eva (even while going/walking) suggests that the explanation was given continuously without halting their progress, maintaining the urgency of their journey. This sets the stage for the upcoming narration where Sugriva will explain the lore of the Saptajana hermitage, blending storytelling with travel, a common trope in epics to provide backstory.

सुग्रीव राम की जिज्ञासा का तत्काल उत्तर देते हैं। 'गच्छन्न् एव' (चलते हुए ही) यह दर्शाता है कि उन्होंने यात्रा नहीं रोकी, अर्थात वे गंतव्य पर पहुँचने की जल्दी में थे, फिर भी राम के प्रश्न का मान रखा। राम के लिए 'महात्मनः' विशेषण का प्रयोग उनकी महानता और सुग्रीव की उनके प्रति श्रद्धा को व्यक्त करता है। अब सुग्रीव उस 'महद् वनम्' (सप्तजन आश्रम) का इतिहास बताएंगे।
