Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
तेषाम् एतत् प्रभावेण द्रुम प्राकार संवृतम् ।
आश्रमम् सुदुराधर्षम् अपि स इन्द्रैः सुर असुरैः ॥ ॥४-१३-२०॥
teṣām etat prabhāveṇa druma prākāra saṃvṛtam । āśramam sudurādharṣam api sa indraiḥ sura asuraiḥ ॥ ॥4-13-20॥
Translation
By the power of those sages, this hermitage is walled in by trees. It is unassailable even by the gods including Indra, and the demons.
हिंदी अनुवाद
उन ऋषियों के प्रभाव से यह आश्रम वृक्षों की दीवार (प्राकार) से घिरा हुआ है। यह स्थान इंद्र सहित देवताओं और असुरों के लिए भी अत्यंत दुर्गम (अजेय) है।
English Commentary
The ascetic merit of the sages creates a tangible protective field. The phrase 'teṣām prabhāveṇa' (by their power) suggests that the wall of trees surrounding the hermitage acts as a spiritual fortification. While it appears as a natural barrier, its function is supernatural, rendering the space 'sudurādharṣam' (difficult to assault or violate). The assertion that even Indra (the King of Gods) or powerful demons cannot penetrate it signifies the supremacy of Tapas (ascetic heat) over political or military might, whether celestial or terrestrial. This establishes the hermitage as a sovereign spiritual territory that commands respect and fear across all dimensions of existence.

ऋषियों का तप केवल पारलौकिक फल ही नहीं देता, बल्कि भौतिक जगत में भी सुरक्षा चक्र का निर्माण करता है। 'तेषाम् प्रभावेण' (उनके प्रभाव से) यह स्पष्ट करता है कि यहाँ वृक्षों की जो दीवार बनी है, वह प्राकृतिक होते हुए भी अलौकिक है। यह कोई साधारण वन नहीं है, बल्कि एक अभेद्य दुर्ग है। सुग्रीव कहते हैं कि इंद्र और असुर भी यहाँ प्रवेश का साहस नहीं कर सकते, जो यह दर्शाता है कि तपोबल, देव-बल और बाहु-बल से श्रेष्ठ होता है। वाल्मीकि यहाँ ऋषियों की स्वायत्तता और उनकी आध्यात्मिक संप्रभुता को स्थापित कर रहे हैं, जिसका सम्मान तीनों लोकों में किया जाता है।
