वाली विनिहतो यावद् वने पांसुषु चेष्टते ।
यदि दृष्टि पथम् प्राप्तो जीवन् स विनिवर्तते ॥४-१४-१२॥
vālī vinihato yāvad vane pāṃsuṣu ceṣṭate । yadi dṛṣṭi patham prāpto jīvan sa vinivartate ॥ ॥4-14-12॥
Translation
If Vali comes within the range of my sight, he shall not return alive. He will be seen slain, rolling in the dust of the forest.
हिंदी अनुवाद
यदि वाली मेरे दृष्टि-पथ (नज़र के सामने) में आ गया, तो वह जीवित वापस नहीं लौट सकता। वह मारा जाकर वन की धूल में लोटता हुआ दिखाई देगा।
English Commentary
Sri Rama asserts the inevitability of Vali's death. The condition set is minimal: "yadi dṛṣṭi patham prāpto" (if he comes within the path of my sight). This implies that distance or Vali's speed will not save him once target acquisition is confirmed. The imagery of Vali "rolling in the dust" (pāṃsuṣu ceṣṭate) is visceral and intended to ground Sugriva's abstract hopes into a concrete reality. It emphasizes that the outcome of the confrontation is already decided by Rama's will; the only variable is Vali's appearance.

श्री राम यहाँ एक प्रतिज्ञापूर्ण शर्त रखते हैं—वाली का केवल उनके दृष्टि-पथ (Sight) में आना ही उसकी मृत्यु के लिए पर्याप्त है। 'पांसुषु चेष्टते' (धूल में छटपटाना) एक अत्यंत यथार्थवादी और भीषण चित्रण है जो सुग्रीव को विश्वास दिलाने के लिए किया गया है। राम यह स्पष्ट कर रहे हैं कि उनका पौरुष केवल वाक-चातुर्य नहीं है, बल्कि एक निश्चित परिणाम है। यदि वाली सामने आया, तो उसका अंत निश्चित है। यह सुग्रीव की शंकाओं के निवारण का अंतिम प्रयास है।
