ततो दोषेण मा गच्छेत् सद्यो गर्हेच्च माम् भवान् ।
प्रत्यक्षम् सप्त ते साला मया बाणेन दारिताः ॥४-१४-१३॥
tato doṣeṇa mā gacchet sadyo garhecca mām bhavān । pratyakṣam sapta te sālā mayā bāṇena dāritāḥ ॥ ॥4-14-13॥
Translation
You may blame me and reproach me immediately (if I fail). But (look), right before your eyes, those seven Sala trees have been pierced by me with a single arrow.
हिंदी अनुवाद
(यदि ऐसा न हो) तब आप मुझे दोष दे सकते हैं और मेरी निंदा कर सकते हैं। (किंतु अभी) आपके सामने ही मैंने एक बाण से उन सात साल वृक्षों को विदीर्ण किया है।
English Commentary
Sri Rama employs the logic of Pratyaksha Pramana (empirical evidence). He argues that Sugriva's doubt is unfounded given the immediate visual proof of the seven Sala trees being pierced (sapta sālā... dāritāḥ). By inviting Sugriva to blame him (garhet) if he fails, Rama stakes his honor on the outcome. This vulnerability—offering oneself to be judged—paradoxically reinforces his authority and strength. It bridges the gap between the supernatural feat of the trees and the upcoming combat with Vali.

श्री राम यहाँ 'प्रत्यक्ष प्रमाण' (Direct Evidence) का सहारा लेते हैं। तर्कशास्त्र में प्रत्यक्ष को सबसे बड़ा प्रमाण माना जाता है। राम कहते हैं कि भविष्य की चिंता छोड़कर वर्तमान के प्रमाण को देखो। सप्त शाल भेदन की घटना अभी-अभी घटी है, जो उनकी शक्ति का ज्वलंत उदाहरण है। राम सुग्रीव को यह अधिकार भी देते हैं कि यदि वे असफल हों तो सुग्रीव उनकी निंदा करें, जो राम की सत्यनिष्ठा और अपनी सामर्थ्य पर पूर्ण भरोसे को दर्शाता है।
