लक्ष्मणेन समुत्पाट्य एषा कण्ठे कृता तव ।
सोभासे अपि अधिकम् वीर लतया कण्ठसक्तया ॥ ॥४-१४-९॥
lakṣmaṇena samutpāṭya eṣā kaṇṭhe kṛtā tava । sobhāse api adhikam vīra latayā kaṇṭhasaktayā ॥ ॥4-14-9॥
Translation
"This creeper was uprooted by Lakshmana and placed around your neck. O Hero! You shine even more resplendently with this creeper clinging to your neck."

"लक्ष्मण ने इसे उखाड़कर तुम्हारे गले में पहनाया है। हे वीर! गले में पड़ी हुई इस लता से तुम और अधिक शोभा पा रहे हो।"
English Commentary
Rama continues to bolster Sugriva's confidence. Mentioning that Lakshmana personally placed the creeper adds a layer of sanctity and brotherly support to the marker. Beyond its utility, Rama frames it aesthetically, telling Sugriva he looks 'adhikam' (more) radiant with it. This is positive reinforcement; by calling him 'Vīra' (Hero) and complimenting his appearance, Rama reframes the safety marker as a garland of victory, transforming a badge of caution into a badge of honor.

यहाँ राम सुग्रीव का मनोबल (morale) बढ़ा रहे हैं। वे याद दिलाते हैं कि यह माला स्वयं लक्ष्मण ने पहनाई है, जो विजय का आशीर्वाद भी है। राम केवल पहचान की बात नहीं करते, बल्कि सुग्रीव की प्रशंसा भी करते हैं—'शोभासे अपि अधिकम्' (तुम और सुंदर/तेजस्वी लग रहे हो)। एक सेनापति अपने योद्धा को युद्ध से पहले "वीर" कहकर और उसके रूप की प्रशंसा करके उसका आत्मविश्वास जगाता है। लता को 'कण्ठसक्तया' (गले में लगी हुई) कहकर विजय-माला (जयमाला) का पूर्व-संकेत दिया गया है।
