पूर्वम् आपतितः क्रोधात् स त्वाम् आह्वयते युधि ।
निष्पत्य च निरस्तः ते हन्यमानो दिशो गतः ॥४-१५-१०॥
pūrvam āpatitaḥ krodhāt sa tvām āhvayate yudhi । niṣpatya ca nirastaḥ te hanyamāno diśo gataḥ ॥ ॥4-15-10॥
Translation
Previously too, he had come in anger and challenged you to battle. You went out and defeated him; beaten by you, he fled in all directions.
हिंदी अनुवाद
पहले भी उसने क्रोध में आकर आपको युद्ध के लिए ललकारा था, और तब आपने निकलकर उसे हराया (तिरस्कृत किया) था, जिससे वह पिटकर (घायल होकर) दिशाओं में भाग गया था।
English Commentary
Tara recounts the very recent history: Sugriva challenged, was met by Vali, was crushed (nirastaḥ), and fled (diśo gataḥ). This serves two purposes: it validates Vali's strength (he already won once) and sets up the premise for her suspicion. A defeated, injured enemy does not return immediately without a new variable in the equation. Tara is highlighting the illogical nature of Sugriva's return to make Vali pause.

तारा पुरानी घटना का स्मरण कराती है। सुग्रीव पहले आया, पीटा गया और भाग गया। यह तथ्य वाली के अहंकार को तुष्ट करने के लिए नहीं, बल्कि एक विसंगति (Anomaly) को इंगित करने के लिए है। जो व्यक्ति बुरी तरह हारकर भागा हो, वह इतनी जल्दी वापस कैसे आ सकता है? तारा वाली को यह सोचने पर विवश करना चाहती है कि इतिहास और वर्तमान के व्यवहार में जो अंतर है, वह संदिग्ध है।
