श्रुत्वा तु तस्य निनदम् सर्वभूत प्रकंपनम् ।
मदः च एकपदे नष्टः क्रोधः च आपादितो महान् ॥४-१५-२॥
śrutvā tu tasya ninadam sarvabhūta prakampanam । madaḥ ca ekapade naṣṭaḥ krodhaḥ ca āpādito mahān ॥ ॥4-15-2॥
Translation
Hearing that sound which caused all beings to tremble, his intoxication vanished instantly, and a great anger took hold of him.

समस्त प्राणियों को कँपा देने वाले उस नाद को सुनकर, वाली का नशा (मद) एक ही पल में उतर गया और उसे महान क्रोध ने घेर लिया।
English Commentary
The intensity of Sugriva's roar is such that it is sarvabhūta prakampanam (shaking all living beings). The immediate effect on Vali is sobering; his madaḥ (intoxication/pride) is instantly destroyed (naṣṭaḥ). This signifies that the threat is existential. The void left by the evaporated intoxication is immediately filled by mahān krodhaḥ (great anger). It illustrates the volatile nature of Vali's mind—shifting instantly from pleasure to extreme rage without a moment of reflection.

सुग्रीव की गर्जना का मनोवैज्ञानिक और शारीरिक प्रभाव देखिये। वाली उस समय मदिरा या शक्ति के मद में चूर था, किन्तु मृत्यु की पुकार (सुग्रीव का स्वर) सुनते ही उसका सारा नशा 'एकपदे' (एक ही पल में) काफूर हो गया। मद का स्थान 'क्रोध' ने ले लिया। यह स्थिति परिवर्तन बहुत तीव्र है। जब संकट द्वार पर होता है, तो कृत्रिम नशा नहीं टिकता, केवल मौलिक स्वभाव (यहाँ क्रोध) ही शेष रहता है।
