सुग्रीवेण च संप्रीतिम् वैरम् उत्सृज्य दूरतः ।
लालनीयो हि ते भ्राता यवीयान् एष वानरः ॥ ॥४-१५-२५॥
sugrīveṇa ca saṃprītim vairam utsṛjya dūrataḥ । lālanīyo hi te bhrātā yavīyān eṣa vānaraḥ ॥ ॥4-15-25॥
Translation
Casting away enmity from a distance, establish friendship with Sugriva. This Vanara is your younger brother and is indeed worthy of your affection and cherishing.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वैर को दूर से ही त्याग कर आप सुग्रीव के साथ प्रेम बढ़ाएं। यह वानर (सुग्रीव) आपका छोटा भाई है, अतः यह आपके द्वारा लाड़-प्यार और स्नेह के योग्य है।
English Commentary
Tara appeals to Vali’s sense of duty as the elder brother (Agraja). By using the word lālanīyaḥ (worthy of being cherished/pampered), she attempts to shift Vali's mindset from a warrior combating a rival to a guardian protecting a dependent. She advises that enmity should not just be paused but cast away entirely (dūrataḥ). Strategically, a younger brother is a natural ally; fighting him weakens the family structure. Tara emphasizes that true strength lies in benevolence and reconciliation, suggesting that maintaining a feud with one's own blood is futile and destructive.

तारा यहाँ 'अग्रज' (बड़े भाई) के धर्म को जाग्रत कर रही हैं। वह नीतिशास्त्र का सहारा लेते हुए कहती हैं कि वैर को केवल दबाना नहीं चाहिए, बल्कि 'दूरतः उत्सृज्य'—उसे जड़ से उखाड़ फेंकना चाहिए। छोटा भाई चाहे कितना भी अपराधी क्यों न हो, वह बड़े भाई के लिए पुत्रवत और स्नेह का पात्र होता है। तारा का तर्क है कि बाहरी शत्रु को तो बल से जीता जा सकता है, लेकिन भाई से युद्ध करना कुल के विनाश का कारण बनता है। वह वाली को याद दिला रही हैं कि शक्ति का प्रदर्शन क्षमा और वात्सल्य में है, न कि अपने ही अनुज के वध में।
