सुग्रीवो विपुल ग्रीवो महाबन्धुः मतः तव ।
भ्रातृ सौहृदम् आलंब्य न अन्या गति इह अस्ति ते ॥ ॥४-१५-२८॥
sugrīvo vipula grīvo mahābandhuḥ mataḥ tava । bhrātṛ sauhṛdam ālaṃbya na anyā gati iha asti te ॥ ॥4-15-28॥
Translation
Sugriva, the one with the broad neck, is considered your great kinsman. Assuming the attitude of brotherly friendship, there is no other way for you in this situation.

विशाल कंठ वाले सुग्रीव आपके महान बंधु माने गए हैं। भाई के सौहार्द (प्रेम) का आश्रय लेने के अतिरिक्त आपके लिए यहाँ (इस स्थिति में) कोई और गति (रास्ता) नहीं है।
English Commentary
Tara acknowledges Sugriva's physical prowess by referring to him as Vipula Griva (broad-necked/strong), implying he is a formidable force, especially now that he is backed by Rama. The phrase na anyā gati (no other way) is the crux of her argument. She realizes the geopolitical landscape has shifted irreversibly with Rama's entry. Military victory is impossible against such a coalition; therefore, diplomatic reconciliation based on fraternal love is not just an option, but the only option for Vali’s survival.

तारा सुग्रीव को 'विपुल ग्रीव' (विशाल गर्दन वाला) कहकर उसकी शक्ति की प्रशंसा कर रही हैं, जिसका अर्थ है कि वह एक दुर्बल शत्रु नहीं है जिसे आसानी से कुचला जा सके। 'न अन्या गति'—तारा की यह चेतावनी गंभीर है। वह जानती हैं कि राम जैसा महाशक्तिशाली योद्धा विपक्ष में खड़ा है, इसलिए वाली के बचने का एकमात्र रास्ता 'भ्रातृ सौहार्द' (भाईचारा) ही है। यदि वाली युद्ध चुनते हैं, तो विनाश निश्चित है। यह संधि का प्रस्ताव नहीं, बल्कि अस्तित्व रक्षा (survival) का एकमात्र सूत्र है।
