ततः तेन महातेजा वीर्य युक्तः कपीश्वरः ।
वेगेन अभिहतो वाली निपपात मही तले ॥ ॥४-१६-३६॥
Tataḥ tena mahātejā vīrya yuktaḥ kapīśvaraḥ |
Vegena abhihato vālī nipapāta mahī tale ॥4-16-36॥
Translation
Struck by the force of that arrow, the greatly radiant and powerful lord of monkeys, Vali, fell down to the ground.
हिंदी अनुवाद
उस बाण के वेग से आहत होकर, महातेजस्वी और पराक्रमी वानरराज वाली पृथ्वी पर गिर पड़ा।
English Commentary
Even in his fall, Vali is accorded respect with adjectives like 'mahātejā' (greatly radiant) and 'vīrya yuktaḥ' (full of valor). This highlights that he was not weak; rather, the force that struck him was simply superior. The phrase 'vegena abhihato' (struck by the speed/force) explains the physics of the fall—the kinetic energy of the arrow knocked the mighty king off his feet, bringing the duel to an abrupt end.
