तत् अस्त्रम् तस्य वीरस्य स्वर्ग मार्ग प्रभावनम् ।
राम बाणासन क्षिप्तम् आवहत् परमाम् गतिम् ॥ ॥४-१७-८॥
Tat astram tasya vīrasya svarga mārga prabhāvanam |
Rāma bāṇāsana kṣiptam āvahat paramām gatim ॥4-17-8॥
Translation
That weapon released from Rama's bow became the illuminator of the path to heaven for that hero, bringing him supreme beatitude (salvation).
हिंदी अनुवाद
राम के धनुष से छूटा हुआ वह अस्त्र (बाण) उस वीर (वाली) के लिए स्वर्ग का मार्ग प्रशस्त करने वाला और परम गति (मोक्ष) को देने वाला सिद्ध हुआ।
English Commentary
This verse transforms the narrative from a physical killing to spiritual liberation ('moksha'). The arrow is described not as an instrument of death, but as a vehicle for 'paramām gatim' (supreme state/salvation). It illuminates the path to heaven ('svarga mārga'). This justifies the act within the theological framework of the epic: punishment by an Avatar purifies the soul, ensuring that Vali's death is actually a blessing in disguise.

यहाँ राम के बाण का आध्यात्मिक प्रभाव बताया गया है। यद्यपि वह बाण प्राण लेने वाला था, किन्तु वास्तव में वह 'स्वर्ग मार्ग प्रभावनम्' (स्वर्ग का मार्ग दिखाने वाला) था। भारतीय दर्शन में मान्यता है कि ईश्वर के हाथों मृत्यु मोक्षदायिनी होती है। राम का बाण वाली के पापों का नाश कर उसे 'परमाम् गतिम्' (सर्वोच्च गति) प्रदान कर रहा है। अतः यह वध नहीं, बल्कि उद्धार है।
