Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
त्वम् तु धर्मम् अविज्ञाय केवलम् रोषम् आस्थितः ।
विदूषयसि माम् धर्मे पितृ पैतामहे स्थितम् ॥४-१८-४३॥
tvam tu dharmam avijñāya kevalam roṣam āsthitaḥ |
vidūṣayasi mām dharme pitṛ paitāmahe sthitam ॥4-18-43॥
Translation
But you, not knowing Dharma and established only in anger, are casting blame on me, who am actually standing firm in the Dharma of my father and forefathers.
हिंदी अनुवाद
परन्तु तुम धर्म को न जानकर, केवल क्रोध के वशीभूत होकर, मुझ पर दोषारोपण कर रहे हो, जबकि मैं अपने पिता और पितामहों के (सनातन) धर्म पर स्थित हूँ।
English Commentary
This is Rama's closing statement. He dismisses all of Vali's accusations as products of "avijñāya" (ignorance) and "roṣam" (anger). Rama asserts that whatever he did—whether by the laws of penology or hunting—was consistent with "pitṛ paitāmahe dharme" (the ancestral Dharma). The Kings of Raghukula have always destroyed Adharma. Rama holds a mirror to Vali, implying that the fault lies not in Rama's arrow, but in Vali's own perception, which is clouded by lust and rage.

यह राम का अंतिम कथन (Closing statement) है। वे वाली के सारे तर्कों को 'अज्ञान' और 'क्रोध' का परिणाम बताकर खारिज कर देते हैं। राम कहते हैं कि उन्होंने जो कुछ भी किया—चाहे दंडनीति के अनुसार या मृगया (शिकार) के नियमों के अनुसार—वह सब 'पितृ पैतामही धर्मे' (कुल-परंपरागत धर्म) के अनुकूल था। रघुकुल के राजाओं ने सदैव अधर्म का नाश किया है। राम वाली को दर्पण दिखाते हैं कि दोष राम के बाण में नहीं, बल्कि वाली की अपनी दृष्टि में है जो काम और क्रोध से धुंधली हो गई है।
