बालः च अकृतबुद्धिः च एक पुत्रः च मे प्रियः ।
तारेयो राम भवता रक्षणीयो महाबलः ॥४-१८-५२॥
bālaḥ ca akṛtabuddhiḥ ca eka putraḥ ca me priyaḥ । tāreyo rāma bhavatā rakṣaṇīyo mahābalaḥ ॥ ॥4-18-52॥
Translation
"He is a child with an immature mind, and he is my only beloved son. O Rama, that son of Tara, who is of great strength, must be protected by you."
हिंदी अनुवाद
"हे राम! वह अभी बालक है, उसकी बुद्धि परिपक्व नहीं है, वह मेरा इकलौता प्रिय पुत्र है। तारा के उस महाबली पुत्र की रक्षा अब आपको ही करनी होगी।"
English Commentary
Vali formally entrusts his son to Rama’s care. He points out Angada's vulnerability: despite being 'mahabala' (mighty), he is still 'akritabuddhi' (immature intellect/undeveloped mind). By referring to him as 'Tareya' (son of Tara), Vali invokes compassion for the mother as well. Vali realizes that Sugriva might view Angada as a rival for the throne. Therefore, he bypasses Sugriva and asks Rama directly for protection, knowing that Rama’s vow of protection is unbreakable. This is a strategic move to ensure his lineage survives.

वाली अब औपचारिक रूप से अंगद का दायित्व राम को सौंप रहा है। वह अंगद की तीन स्थितियाँ बताता है: वह बच्चा है ('बालः'), नासमझ है ('अकृतबुद्धिः'), और उसका इकलौता बेटा है ('एक पुत्रः')। यद्यपि वह 'महाबली' है, फिर भी उसे मार्गदर्शन की आवश्यकता है। वाली उसे 'तारेय' (तारा का पुत्र) कहकर राम को याद दिलाता है कि एक असहाय माँ के बेटे की रक्षा करना क्षत्रिय का धर्म है। वाली जानता है कि राम की शरण में ही अंगद सुग्रीव के क्रोध या राजनीति से सुरक्षित रह सकता है।
