त्वया हि अनुगृहीतेन शक्यम् राज्यम् उपासितुम् ।
त्वत् वशे वर्तमानेन तव चित्त अनुवर्तिना ॥४-१८-५६॥
tvayā hi anugṛhītena shakyam rājyam upāsitum । tvat vashe vartamānena tava citta anuvartinā ॥ ॥4-18-56॥
Translation
"For only by being favored by you, remaining under your control, and following your will, is it possible for the kingdom to be ruled (by Sugriva)."
हिंदी अनुवाद
"क्योंकि आपके द्वारा अनुग्रहित होकर, आपके वश में रहकर और आपके चित्त (इच्छा) के अनुकूल चलकर ही सुग्रीव राज्य का पालन कर सकेगा।"
English Commentary
In his concluding remark, Vali outlines the political reality for the future of Kishkindha. He asserts that Sugriva can only rule successfully if he remains 'anugrihitena' (graced/favored) by Rama and acts in accordance with Rama's will ('citta'). Vali concedes that the era of independent Vanara rule is over; legitimacy now flows from Rama. It is a pragmatic advice for stability—acknowledging that defying Rama leads to destruction (as Vali experienced), while submission ensures the continuity of the kingdom.

अपने अंतिम उपदेश में वाली राजनीति का सार बता रहा है। वह स्वीकार करता है कि सुग्रीव राजा तो बनेगा, लेकिन उसका राज्य तभी टिकेगा जब वह राम के अधीन रहेगा। 'त्वत् वशे वर्तमानेन' (तुम्हारे वश में रहकर) कहकर वाली स्पष्ट करता है कि अब किष्किन्धा की स्वतंत्रता सीमित है और राम ही सर्वोच्च सत्ता हैं। यह सुग्रीव के लिए भी एक चेतावनी है और राम के प्रभुत्व की अंतिम स्वीकृति भी। वाली समझ गया है कि राम के विरोध में विनाश है और राम की शरण में ही अभ्युदय है।
