Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
न संतापः त्वया कार्यम् एतत् अर्थम् प्लवंगम ।
न वयम् भवता चिंत्या न अपि आत्मा हरिसत्तम ।
वयम् भवत् विशेषेण धर्मतः कृत निश्चयाः ॥४-१८-६०॥
na saṃtāpaḥ tvayā kāryam etat artham plavaṃgama । na vayam bhavatā ciṃtyā na api ātmā harisattama । vayam bhavat visheṣeṇa dharmataḥ kṛta nishcayāḥ ॥ ॥4-18-60॥
Translation
"O best of monkeys, you should not grieve over this matter. You need not worry about us, nor about yourself. For we have made this decision based on Dharma, even more strictly than you realize."
हिंदी अनुवाद
"हे वानरश्रेष्ठ! इस विषय में तुम्हें संताप (शोक) नहीं करना चाहिए। तुम्हें न हमारी चिंता करनी चाहिए और न अपनी (परलोक की)। क्योंकि हम तुमसे भी विशेष रूप से धर्म के अनुसार ही निश्चय करने वाले हैं।"
English Commentary
Rama absolves Vali of guilt and anxiety. He explicitly tells Vali not to grieve or worry about the propriety of the action or his own fate. By stating that His decision was made with a stricter adherence to Dharma than Vali might comprehend, Rama takes full moral responsibility for the event. This is a crucial reassurance: it tells Vali that his death is not a senseless murder but a sanctioned act of justice, and therefore, he need not fear for his spiritual status in the afterlife.

राम वाली को आश्वस्त करते हैं कि जो कुछ भी हुआ, वह धर्मानुकूल था। वाली को यह चिंता थी कि क्या उसका वध उचित था और क्या उसका परलोक सुधरेगा। राम कहते हैं, 'न संतापः कार्यम्' (शोक मत करो)। राम का कथन 'वयम् भवत् विशेषेण' (हम तुमसे भी अधिक) यह संकेत करता है कि एक राजा के रूप में राम धर्म की सूक्ष्मता को वाली से कहीं बेहतर समझते हैं। उन्होंने जो निर्णय लिया है, वह आवेश में नहीं, बल्कि 'धर्मतः कृत निश्चयाः' (धर्मानुसार किया गया निश्चय) है, इसलिए वाली को अपने भविष्य को लेकर निश्चिंत हो जाना चाहिए।
