Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
यथा त्वयि अंगदो नित्यम् वर्तते वानरेश्वरः ।
तथा वर्तते सुग्रीवो मयि च अपि न संशयः ॥४-१८-६४॥
yathā tvayi aṃgado nityam vartate vānareshvaraḥ । tathā vartate sugrīvo mayi ca api na saṃshayaḥ ॥ ॥4-18-64॥
Translation
"O Lord of Monkeys, just as Angada always conducts himself towards you (or is dear to you), so too will Sugriva and I conduct ourselves (towards him); there is no doubt."
हिंदी अनुवाद
"हे वानरराज! जिस प्रकार अंगद नित्य आपके प्रति व्यवहार (स्नेह/भक्ति) करता है, उसी प्रकार सुग्रीव और मैं भी उसके प्रति व्यवहार करेंगे, इसमें कोई संदेह नहीं है।" (या: जैसा अंगद आपके लिए प्रिय है, वैसा ही वह सुग्रीव और मेरे लिए भी रहेगा।)
English Commentary
Rama directly addresses Vali's anxiety about his son. He pledges that Angada will receive the same care and status he enjoyed under Vali. The reciprocal nature of the phrasing implies that Angada will be treated as family by both Sugriva and Rama. By invoking Sugriva's name, Rama implicitly guarantees that he will enforce Sugriva's benevolence towards Angada. This assurance ('na samshayah' - without doubt) allows Vali to let go of his last earthly tether, knowing his lineage is secure under Rama's protection.

राम वाली की सबसे बड़ी चिंता—अंगद की सुरक्षा—का निवारण करते हैं। यद्यपि श्लोक का शाब्दिक अर्थ थोड़ा जटिल हो सकता है, संदर्भ स्पष्ट है: राम प्रतिज्ञा करते हैं कि अंगद अनाथ महसूस नहीं करेगा। राम कहते हैं कि सुग्रीव और वे स्वयं अंगद का उसी तरह ध्यान रखेंगे जैसे वाली रखता था, या अंगद को वही स्थान मिलेगा जो उसे वाली के पास प्राप्त था। 'न संशयः' कहकर राम अपनी गारंटी देते हैं, जो वाली के लिए किसी भी लिखित संधि से बढ़कर है। इससे वाली को पुत्र के भविष्य के प्रति पूर्ण शांति मिलती है।
