तम् भार्या बाण मोक्षेण राम दत्तेन संयुगे ।
हतम् प्लवग शार्दूलम् तारा शुश्राव वालिनम् ॥४-१९-३॥
tam bhāryā bāṇa mokṣeṇa rāma dattena saṃyuge । hatam plavaga shārdūlam tārā shushrāva vālinam ॥ ॥4-19-3॥
Translation
Tara, the wife of Vali, heard that the tiger among monkeys, Vali, had been killed in battle by an arrow released by Rama.

वाली की पत्नी तारा ने सुना कि वानरों में श्रेष्ठ (शार्दूल) वाली युद्ध भूमि में राम द्वारा छोड़े गए बाण से मारे गए हैं।
English Commentary
This verse marks the moment the tragic news reaches the inner sanctum. Tara learns that Vali, the 'Plavaga Shardulam' (tiger among monkeys), has fallen. The specific mention that he was killed by an arrow 'given' (released) by Rama confirms her worst fears. She had earlier warned Vali about Rama's alliance with Sugriva, but he had dismissed it. Now, the realization hits that the invincible warrior has been slain by a divine force, shattering her world and validating her disregarded intuition.
