वानरा राज सिंहस्य यस्य यूयम् पुरः सराः ।
तम् विहाय सुवित्रस्ताः कस्माद् द्रवत दुर्गताः ॥४-१९-८॥
vānarā rāja siṃhasya yasya yūyam puraḥ sarāḥ । tam vihāya suvitrastāḥ kasmād dravata durgatāḥ ॥ ॥4-19-8॥
Translation
"O Monkeys! Why are you fleeing in terror, abandoning that Lion among Kings whose vanguard you used to be, now that he has met with misfortune?"
हिंदी अनुवाद
"हे वानरों! जिस राजसिंह (वाली) के तुम सब आगे चलने वाले (अनुचर) थे, उस दुर्गति को प्राप्त हुए राजा को छोड़कर तुम लोग भयभीत होकर क्यों भाग रहे हो?"
English Commentary
Tara rebukes the fleeing troops for their cowardice. She calls Vali 'Raja Simhasya' (Lion among Kings) and reminds the monkeys of their duty as his vanguard ('purah sarah'). Abandoning a fallen leader is a breach of martial code. Her question challenges their loyalty and bravery: "Why do you run?" She tries to stem the rout by shaming them into remembering their allegiance to the king who led them, even as he lies in a wretched state ('durgatah').

तारा सैनिकों को धिक्कारती है और उनके क्षत्रिय धर्म को जगाने का प्रयास करती है। वह उन्हें याद दिलाती है कि वे 'राज सिंह' (वाली) के अनुचर थे। 'पुरः सराः' का अर्थ है जो युद्ध में सबसे आगे चलते थे। आज वे ही अपने स्वामी को अकेला छोड़कर भाग रहे हैं। तारा का प्रश्न 'कस्माद् द्रवत' (क्यों भाग रहे हो?) केवल जिज्ञासा नहीं, बल्कि एक ताना है। वह यह जानना चाहती है कि क्या वे केवल प्राण भय से भाग रहे हैं या कोई और अनिष्ट घट चुका है।
