तौ त्वया प्राकृतेन एव गत्वा ज्ञेयौ प्लवंगम ।
इङ्गितानाम् प्रकारैः च रूपव्या भाषणेन च ॥४-२-२४॥
Tau tvayā prākṛtena eva gatvā jñeyau plavaṃgama |
Iṅgitānām prakāraiḥ ca rūpavyā bhāṣaṇena ca ॥4-2-24॥
Translation
Therefore, O Monkey, go in a common form [disguise] and learn about them. Know them by their various gestures, their appearance, and their speech.
हिंदी अनुवाद
(अतः) हे प्लवंगम! आप 'प्राकृत' (साधारण/भिक्षुक) रूप में ही जाकर उन दोनों के बारे में जानकारी प्राप्त कीजिये। उनके इंगितों (चेष्टाओं) के प्रकार से और उनके रूप तथा बातचीत (भाषण) से उन्हें पहचानिये।
English Commentary
Sugriva moves to the operational phase. He instructs Hanuman to approach the strangers, but crucially, in a Prakrita form—meaning a common, nondescript form (usually interpreted as a mendicant/Brahmin) to avoid revealing his high status or provoking immediate hostility. The mission is intelligence gathering: Hanuman is to assess them through Ingita (gestures/body language), Rupa (appearance/demeanor), and Bhashana (speech). Sugriva trusts Hanuman's ability to discern their true intent through these subtle cues.
