तस्या विलपितम् श्रुत्वा वानर्यः सर्वतः च ताः ।
परिगृह्य अंगदम् दीना दुह्ख आर्ताः परिचुक्रुशुः ॥ ॥४-२०-२३॥
tasyā vilapitam śrutvā vānaryaḥ sarvataḥ ca tāḥ । parigṛhya aṃgadam dīnā duhkha ārtāḥ paricukruśuḥ ॥ ॥4-20-23॥
Translation
Hearing Tara’s lamentation, all the female monkeys standing around, stricken with misery, embraced Angada and cried aloud.

तारा का विलाप सुनकर चारों ओर खड़ी वे सभी वानरियां, जो दुःख से पीड़ित थीं, अंगद को गले लगाकर जोर-जोर से रोने लगीं।
English Commentary
The atmosphere of grief reaches its peak here. Tara's personal sorrow transforms into collective mourning. The she-monkeys are not merely spectators; they represent the community that has lost its protector. Their act of embracing Angada signifies that their hopes and sympathies are now focused on the young prince. They see both their future and their vulnerability in him. Valmiki uses words like dina (wretched) and duhkha-artah (stricken with sorrow) to poignantly depict the helpless state of the women in the harem, creating a scene of shared tragedy.

यहाँ शोक का वातावरण अपने चरम पर है। तारा का व्यक्तिगत दुःख अब सामूहिक शोक में बदल गया है। 'वानर्यः' (वानरियां) केवल मूकदर्शक नहीं हैं, बल्कि वे उस समुदाय का प्रतिनिधित्व करती हैं जिसका राजा चला गया है। उनका अंगद को गले लगाना यह दर्शाता है कि अब उनकी सारी आशाएं और सहानुभूति बालक अंगद पर केंद्रित हो गई हैं। वे अंगद में अपने भविष्य और असुरक्षा दोनों को देख रही हैं। वाल्मीकि जी ने यहाँ 'दीना' और 'दुःख आर्ताः' शब्दों का प्रयोग करके अंतःपुर की स्त्रियों की असहाय स्थिति का मार्मिक चित्रण किया है।
