उत्तिष्ठ हरि शार्दूल भजस्व शयन उत्तमम् ।
न एवम् विधाः शेरते हि भूमौ नृपति सत्तमाः ॥४-२०-५॥
uttiṣṭha hari śārdūla bhajasva śayana uttamam । na evam vidhāḥ śerate hi bhūmau nṛpati sattamāḥ ॥ ॥4-20-5॥
Translation
Arise, O tiger among monkeys! Resort to a supreme bed. For the best of kings of your kind do not lie on the ground like this.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे वानर-व्याघ्र! उठिये और उत्तम शय्या का सेवन कीजिये। (आप जैसे) नृपश्रेष्ठ इस प्रकार भूमि पर नहीं सोते हैं।
English Commentary
In a heartbreaking plea, Tara commands Vali to "Arise" (uttiṣṭha). Using the epithet hari śārdūla (tiger among monkeys), she urges him to leave the bare ground and take to a śayana uttamam (excellent bed/royal couch). She argues that nṛpati sattamāḥ (the best of kings) do not sleep on the earth. This reflects her inability to reconcile his royal status with the degradation of death. It emphasizes the stark reality that in death, even a king returns to the dust, a fact Tara struggles to accept.

तारा का शोक अब इनकार (denial) और सम्मान के मिश्रण में बदल गया है। वह बाली को 'हरि शार्दूल' (वानरों में बाघ) कहती है और उसे 'उत्तिष्ठ' (उठो) का आदेश देती है। उसे यह स्वीकार नहीं है कि राजा धूल में पड़ा रहे। वह कहती है कि आप जैसे श्रेष्ठ राजाओं (नृपति सत्तमाः) को उत्तम शय्या पर सोना शोभा देता है, न कि रणभूमि की कठोर धरती पर। यह श्लोक राजा के वैभव और मृत्यु की क्रूर समानता (leveler) के बीच के अंतर को उजागर करता है। तारा राजा के सम्मान को पुनर्स्थापित करना चाहती है।
