अंगद प्रतिरूपाणाम् पुत्राणाम् एकतः शतम् ।
हतस्य अपि अस्य वीरस्य गात्र संश्लेषणम् वरम् ॥ ॥४-२१-१३॥
aṃgada pratirūpāṇām putrāṇām ekataḥ śatam । hatasya api asya vīrasya gātra saṃśleṣaṇam varam ॥ ॥4-21-13॥
Translation
(Tara says:) Even if there were a hundred sons like Angada on one side, embracing the body of this slain hero is far better to me.
हिंदी अनुवाद
(तारा कहती हैं:) एक ओर अंगद जैसे सौ पुत्र हों और दूसरी ओर इस मृत वीर (वाली) के शरीर का आलिंगन—तो मेरे लिए इस वीर के शरीर से लिपटना ही श्रेष्ठ है।
English Commentary
This is one of the most emotionally charged verses in the Ramayana. Tara flatly rejects Hanuman’s political offer. It represents the pinnacle of Pativratya (devotion to husband). She declares that neither power nor the love of a son can weigh against her bond with her husband. By valuing the gatra sanshleshanam (embracing the body) of her dead husband over 'a hundred Angadas,' she asserts that Vali is irreplaceable in her life. It highlights the intensity of her love and the depth of her despair.

यह रामायण के सबसे भावुक श्लोकों में से एक है। तारा ने हनुमान के राजनैतिक प्रस्ताव को पूरी तरह अस्वीकार कर दिया है। यह 'पातिव्रत्य' की पराकाष्ठा है। वह कहती हैं कि सत्ता और पुत्र का मोह उन्हें पति के वियोग से नहीं बचा सकता। 'गात्र संश्लेषणम्' (शरीर का आलिंगन) की तुलना 'सौ पुत्रों' से करके तारा ने यह स्पष्ट कर दिया कि उनके जीवन में वाली का स्थान कोई नहीं ले सकता, स्वयं उनका पुत्र भी नहीं। यह प्रेम की तीव्रता और शोक की गहराई को दर्शाता है।
