Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
यस्मिन् हरि सहस्राणि शतानि नियुतानि च ।
वर्तयन्ति कृत आशानि सो अयम् दिष्टांतम् आगतः ॥ ॥४-२१-६॥
yasmin hari sahasrāṇi śatāni niyutāni ca । vartayanti kṛta āśāni so ayam diṣṭāṃtam āgataḥ ॥ ॥4-21-6॥
Translation
He, upon whom hundreds, thousands, and millions of monkeys depended with hope for their livelihood, has now reached his destined end.
हिंदी अनुवाद
जिस (वाली) पर हजारों, सैकड़ों और लाखों वानर अपनी आशाएं टिकाए हुए जीवन निर्वाह करते थे, वह यह (वाली) अब अपने अंत (मृत्यु) को प्राप्त हो गया है।
English Commentary
Hanuman forces an acceptance of reality here. He validates Vali's greatness as the provider/protector for millions (niyutani), but definitively states dishtantam agatah (he has reached his end). The chapter is closed. The pillar of society has fallen. By stating this clearly, Hanuman emphasizes that the dependency on Vali must end, and the survivors must now find strength in themselves to support the kingdom that relied on him.

हनुमान जी यहाँ वास्तविकता का स्वीकार (Acceptance of Reality) करवा रहे हैं। वे वाली की महानता को स्वीकार करते हैं कि वह लाखों का आश्रयदाता था, लेकिन साथ ही 'दिष्टांतम् आगतः' (अंत को प्राप्त हो गया) कहकर यह स्पष्ट करते हैं कि वह अध्याय अब समाप्त हो चुका है। यह एक कड़वा सच है। जो 'था', वह अब 'नहीं है'। समाज और प्रजा का वह आधार स्तंभ गिर चुका है, इसलिए अब नए आधार (तारा और अंगद) को मजबूत होना होगा।
