Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
राघवस्य च ते कार्यम् कर्तव्यम् अविशंकया ।
स्यात् अधर्मो हि अकरणे त्वाम् च हिंस्यात् अमानितः ॥ ॥४-२२-१५॥
rāghavasya ca te kāryam kartavyam aviśaṃkayā । syāt adharmo hi akaraṇe tvām ca hiṃsyāt amānitaḥ ॥ ॥4-22-15॥
Translation
You must perform Raghava's task (searching for Sita) without hesitation. Not doing so would be unrighteous, and if he feels disrespected, he might kill you.
हिंदी अनुवाद
तुम्हें राघव (राम) का कार्य बिना किसी शंका के करना चाहिए। यदि तुम ऐसा नहीं करोगे तो यह अधर्म होगा और अपमानित होने पर वे तुम्हारा वध कर देंगे।
English Commentary
This is Vali's final political warning. He has recognized Rama's power firsthand. The term amanitah (if disregarded/disrespected) is crucial—Rama is a friend, but if his cause is neglected, he is capable of punishing. Vali warns Sugriva against complacency or negligence, foreseeing the danger of angering Rama (which actually happens later in the text). It is a protective admonition from an elder brother ensuring his successor's survival.

यह वाली की अंतिम राजनीतिक चेतावनी है। वे राम की शक्ति को पहचान चुके हैं। 'अमानितः' (अपमानित होने पर) शब्द महत्वपूर्ण है—राम मित्र हैं, लेकिन यदि उनके कार्य की उपेक्षा की गई, तो वे दंड भी दे सकते हैं। वाली नहीं चाहते कि सुग्रीव आलस्य या भोग में पड़कर राम के कोप का भाजन बनें (जो बाद में वास्तव में होता है)। यह एक बड़े भाई की अपने छोटे भाई को सुरक्षा की दृष्टि से दी गई सलाह है।
