ताम् मालाम् कांचनीम् दत्त्वा वाली दृष्ट्वा आत्मजम् स्थितम् ।
संसिद्धः प्रेत्य भावाय स्नेहात् अंगदम् अब्रवीत् ॥ ॥४-२२-१९॥
Tām mālāṃ kāñcanīṃ dattvā vālī dṛṣṭvā ātmajam sthitam । Saṃsiddhaḥ pretya bhāvāya snehāt aṅgadam abravīt ॥ ॥4-22-19॥
Translation
Having given that golden necklace, Wali, seeing his son standing nearby and being fully prepared for the afterlife, spoke to Angada out of affection.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वह स्वर्णमाला (सुग्रीव को) देकर, अपने पास खड़े पुत्र (अंगद) को देखकर, परलोक गमन के लिए तैयार बालि ने स्नेहपूर्वक अंगद से कहा।
English Commentary
Having settled the succession of the kingdom with Sugriva, Wali turns his attention to his personal legacy: his son, Angada. The phrase "samsiddhah pretya bhavaya" indicates Wali is resolved and ready for death; he has detached from his physical pain to focus on final duties. Seeing Angada standing nearby triggers his paternal instinct ("snehat"). Wali realizes that Angada’s status is about to shift drastically from being the pampered prince of the ruling King to a subordinate of his uncle. The advice he is about to give is born of deep affection and anxiety for his son's survival in a court where his father is no longer the protector.
