ततः षोडशमे वर्षे गोलभो विनिपातितः ।
तम् हत्वा दुर्विनीतिम् तु वाली दंष्ट्र करालवान् ।
सर्वा अभयम् करः अस्माकम् कथम् एष निपातितः ॥ ॥४-२२-३०॥
Tataḥ ṣoḍaśame varṣe golabho vinipātitaḥ । Tam hatvā durvinītim tu vālī daṃṣṭra karālavān । Sarvā abhayam karaḥ asmākam katham eṣa nipātitaḥ ॥ ॥4-22-30॥
Translation
Then, in the sixteenth year, Golabha was struck down. Having killed that wicked one, Vali, who appears terrifying with his fangs, gave fearlessness to us all. How has he now been struck down?

Tara transitions from recounting Vali's past victory to questioning his present defeat. She notes that in the sixteenth year of that conflict, Vali emerged victorious, securing safety ("Abhayam") for his people. The description of Vali as having "terrifying fangs" underscores his ferocity to enemies.
