प्रतिपद्य त्वम् अद्य एव राज्यम् एषाम् वन ओकसाम् ।
माम् अपि अद्य एव गच्छंतम् विद्धि वैवस्वत क्षयम् ॥ ॥४-२२-५॥
pratipadya tvam adya eva rājyam eṣām vana okasām । mām api adya eva gacchaṃtam viddhi vaivasvata kṣayam ॥ ॥4-22-5॥
Translation
Accept the kingship of these forest-dwellers this very day, and know for certain that I am departing this very day to the abode of Yama (Vaivasvata).
हिंदी अनुवाद
तुम आज ही इन वनवासियों (वानरों) का राज्य स्वीकार करो और यह जान लो कि मैं भी आज ही यमराज (वैवस्वत) के निवास स्थान को जा रहा हूँ।
English Commentary
This verse marks the formal abdication of power. Vali speaks no longer just as a defeated king, but as an elder brother issuing a final directive. The repetition of adya eva (this very day) underscores the urgency. It juxtaposes two major events occurring simultaneously: the coronation of Sugriva and the death of Vali. Vali prepares Sugriva psychologically, signaling that there is no time for delay; one era is ending, and another must immediately begin.

यह श्लोक सत्ता के औपचारिक हस्तांतरण (formal abdication) का प्रतीक है। वाली अब राजा नहीं, बल्कि एक बड़े भाई के रूप में आदेश दे रहे हैं। 'अद्य एव' (आज ही) का दो बार प्रयोग हुआ है, जो समय की तात्कालिकता (urgency) को दर्शाता है। एक तरफ राज्याभिषेक है और दूसरी तरफ मृत्यु। वाली सुग्रीव को मानसिक रूप से तैयार कर रहे हैं कि अब कोई विलंब नहीं हो सकता; एक युग समाप्त हो रहा है और दूसरा शुरू हो रहा है।
