सुखार्हम् सुख संवृद्धम् बालम् एनम् अबालिशम् ।
बाष्प पूर्ण मुखम् पश्य भूमौ पतितम् अंगदम् ॥ ॥४-२२-८॥
sukhārham sukha saṃvṛddham bālam enam abāliśam । bāṣpa pūrṇa mukham paśya bhūmau patitam aṃgadam ॥ ॥4-22-8॥
Translation
Look at Angada, fallen on the ground with a tear-filled face; he deserves happiness, has been raised in comfort, and though a child in age, is not childish in intellect.
हिंदी अनुवाद
जो सुख के योग्य है और सुख में ही पला-बढ़ा है, जो बालक (छोटा) होते हुए भी (बुद्धि में) बालक नहीं है—उस आँसू भरे मुख वाले, भूमि पर पड़े अंगद को देखो।
English Commentary
The father's heart overflows here. Vali highlights three traits of Angada: 1. Sukharham (deserving of happiness, not hardship), 2. Sukha samvriddham (raised in luxury), and 3. Abalisham (not childish/foolish). By calling him abalisham, Vali subtly indicates that Angada is intelligent and will be an asset to Sugriva, not a burden. The description of Angada lying on the ground is intended to evoke pity and protective instincts in Sugriva.

पिता का हृदय यहाँ छलक रहा है। वाली अंगद की तीन विशेषताएं बताते हैं: 1. 'सुखार्हम्' (वह राजकुमार है, कष्ट का आदी नहीं), 2. 'सुख संवृद्धम्' (लाड़-प्यार में पला है), और 3. 'अबालिशम्' (वह समझदार है, मूर्ख नहीं)। 'अबालिशम्' कहकर वाली यह संकेत दे रहे हैं कि अंगद भविष्य में सुग्रीव के लिए उपयोगी सिद्ध होगा, वह कोई साधारण बालक नहीं है। अंगद की दयनीय स्थिति का वर्णन सुग्रीव के मन में करुणा जगाने के लिए किया गया है।
