धन धान्य समृद्धा अपि विधवा इति उच्यते जनैः ।
स्व गात्र प्रभवे वीर शेषे रुधिर मण्डले ॥ ॥४-२३-१३॥
Dhana dhānya samṛddhā api vidhavā iti ucyate janaiḥ । Sva gātra prabhave vīra śeṣe rudhira maṇḍale ॥ ॥4-23-13॥
Translation
Even if she is abundant in wealth and grain, she is called "widow" by the people. O Hero, you lie in a pool of blood originating from your own body.

चाहे धन और धान्य से कितनी भी समृद्ध क्यों न हो, लोग उसे 'विधवा' ही कहते हैं। हे वीर! आप अपने ही शरीर से निकले हुए रक्त के तालाब (मंडल) में सो रहे हैं।
English Commentary
Tara continues her meditation on status versus reality. Material abundance ("Dhana dhanya") is rendered meaningless by the label "Vidhava" (widow). Wealth cannot buy back the auspiciousness lost with the husband. She contrasts this abstract social reflection with the visceral reality before her: Vali lying in a "Rudhira mandale" (circle or pool of blood) flowing from his own body. The commentary notes the sharp transition from discussing societal labels to witnessing the gruesome physical evidence of death, grounding the philosophical lament in bloody reality.

इस श्लोक में दो दृश्य एक साथ चलते हैं। एक तरफ तारा अपनी सामाजिक स्थिति पर टिप्पणी करती हैं कि 'धन-धान्य' (भौतिक संपदा) पति के अभाव को नहीं ढक सकता। दूसरी तरफ, वह वाली की शारीरिक अवस्था का अत्यंत वीभत्स और करुण वर्णन करती हैं। वाली 'रुधिर मण्डले' (खून के घेरे या तालाब) में पड़े हैं। यह विरोधाभास—एक रानी जिसके पास सब कुछ है, और एक राजा जो खून में लथपथ है—जीवन की निरर्थकता को दर्शाता है।
