वार्यामि त्वाम् निरीक्षन्ती त्वयि पंचत्वम् आगते ।
उद्बबर्ह शरम् नीलः तस्य गात्र गतम् तदा ॥ ॥४-२३-१७॥
Vāryāmi tvām nirīkṣantī tvayi pañcatvam āgate । Udbabarha śaram nīlaḥ tasya gātra gatam tadā ॥ ॥4-23-17॥
Translation
I am held back while gazing at you, who have met with death. Then, Nila pulled out the arrow that had gone into his body.
हिंदी अनुवाद
आपकी मृत्यु हो जाने पर, आपको देखती हुई मैं (उस बाण के कारण) रोकी जा रही हूँ। तब (वानर सेनापति) नील ने उनके शरीर में धंसे हुए उस बाण को बाहर निकाला।
English Commentary
The narrative shifts from speech to action. Tara repeats that she is barred ("Varyami") from her husband by the arrow. Seeing this, Nila (the commander and a kinsman) steps forward to perform the grim duty. He extracts ("Udbabarha") the fatal shaft. The commentary points out the significance of Nila's action: it breaks the stasis. The removal of the weapon signifies the official end of the battle context and the beginning of the funeral rites, allowing Tara access to the body she wishes to mourn over.

श्लोक के पूर्वार्ध में तारा की विवशता है, और उत्तरार्ध में एक क्रिया (Action) है। तारा बाण के कारण रुक रही थीं, यह देखकर सेनापति नील आगे आते हैं। नील का हस्तक्षेप व्यावहारिक है। अंतिम संस्कार और परिवार के विलाप के लिए बाण का निकलना आवश्यक था। 'उद्बबर्ह' (जोर लगाकर बाहर निकाला) शब्द बताता है कि बाण कितनी गहराई तक धंसा था। नील, जो संभवतः तारा के पक्ष के या रिश्तेदार माने जाते हैं, इस कठिन कार्य को करते हैं ताकि रानी अपने पति के शव को स्पर्श कर सकें।
