उवाच तारा पिंगाक्षम् पुत्रम् अंगदम् अंगना ।
अवस्थाम् पश्चिमाम् पश्य पितुः पुत्र सुदारुणाम् ॥ ॥४-२३-२२॥
uvāca tārā piṃgākṣam putram aṅgadam aṅganā । avasthām paścimām paśya pituḥ putra sudāruṇām ॥ ॥4-23-22॥
Translation
That noble woman Tara spoke to her yellow-eyed son Angada, saying, "O son, look at this final and terribly distinct condition of your father."
हिंदी अनुवाद
उस वीरांगना तारा ने अपने पीली आंखों वाले पुत्र अंगद से कहा— "हे पुत्र! अपने पिता की इस अंतिम और अत्यंत दारुण (भयानक) अवस्था को देखो।"
English Commentary
Tara addressing Angada marks a shift from personal grief to maternal instruction. By asking her son to witness the 'paścimām avasthām' (final state) of his father, she is forcing him to confront the brutal reality of death and the consequences of the feud. The phrase 'sudāruṇām' (very terrible/severe) indicates that the sight is not meant to comfort, but to shock and imprint upon Angada's mind the gravity of the situation. It is a rite of passage for the young prince. Tara realizes that Angada is now the bearer of Vali’s legacy, and he must see the fall of the 'old king' to understand the fragility of power and life. It is a moment of profound education delivered in the midst of tragedy.

तारा का अंगद को संबोधित करना एक मां की कठोर कर्तव्यनिष्ठा को दर्शाता है। यद्यपि वह स्वयं गहरे शोक में है, वह अपने पुत्र को वास्तविकता का सामना करने के लिए प्रेरित कर रही है। 'अवस्थाम् पश्चिमाम्' का अर्थ है 'अंतिम अवस्था' या मृत्यु। तारा अंगद को यह दृश्य इसलिए दिखाना चाहती है ताकि वह जीवन की नश्वरता और राजधर्म की कठोरता को समझ सके। यह अंगद के लिए एक मानसिक आघात भी है और भविष्य की जिम्मेदारियों के लिए एक दीक्षा भी। 'सुदारुणाम्' शब्द का प्रयोग बताता है कि मृत्यु का वह दृश्य सामान्य नहीं है, बल्कि एक महायोद्धा का अंत है जो अत्यंत कष्टदायक है। तारा यहाँ एक पत्नी से अधिक एक माता और क्षत्राणी की भूमिका में नजर आती हैं, जो अपने पुत्र को विपत्ति में भी सत्य के दर्शन करा रही है।
