भुजाभ्याम् पीन वृताभ्याम् अंगदो अहम् इति ब्रुवन् ।
अभिवादयमानम् त्वाम् अंगदम् त्वम् यथा पुरा ॥ ॥४-२३-२५॥
bhujābhyām pīna vṛtābhyām aṅgado aham iti bruvan । abhivādayamānam tvām aṅgadam tvam yathā purā ॥ ॥4-23-25॥
Translation
(Tara lamented to Vali), "Here is Angada, saying 'I am Angada', saluting you while clasping your feet with his muscular, rounded arms. Why do you not acknowledge him as before?"

(तारा ने वाली से कहा) "यह 'मैं अंगद हूँ', ऐसा कहता हुआ अपनी गोल और मोटी भुजाओं से आपके चरणों को पकड़े हुए आपको प्रणाम कर रहा है। आप इसे पहले की तरह ही (आशीर्वाद क्यों नहीं देते)?"
English Commentary
Tara’s grief transitions into denial and a desperate plea for normalcy. She describes Angada introducing himself ('I am Angada') to his own father, highlighting the tragedy that Vali's consciousness is fading. The mention of Angada’s 'muscular, rounded arms' serves two purposes: it shows he has grown into a warrior worthy of Vali, yet in this moment, his strength is useless against death. Tara’s plea for Vali to respond 'as before' (yathā purā) captures the universal human reaction to loss—the inability to comprehend that the loved one will never speak again. She is acting as a bridge between the living son and the dying father, trying to provoke one last interaction of love.

यह श्लोक तारा के विलाप की पराकाष्ठा है। वह मूक वाली से बात करने का प्रयास कर रही है। अंगद अपना परिचय दे रहा है—"मैं अंगद हूँ"—यह स्थिति की विडंबना को दर्शाता है। जिस पिता ने उसे पाल-पोस कर बड़ा किया, आज उसे अपना नाम बताना पड़ रहा है, शायद इस आशा में कि पिता की चेतना लौट आए। 'पीन वृताभ्याम्' (हृष्ट-पुष्ट भुजाएं) का वर्णन यह दिखाता है कि अंगद अब बालक नहीं, बल्कि एक युवा योद्धा है, फिर भी वह पिता के सामने असहाय है। तारा का प्रश्न—"त्वम् यथा पुरा" (आप पहले की तरह व्यवहार क्यों नहीं करते)—मृत्यु की निष्ठुरता को स्वीकार न कर पाने वाले मन की व्यथा है। वह उस सन्नाटे को तोड़ने की भीख मांग रही है जो अब अनंत काल तक रहने वाला है।
