न मे वचः पथ्यम् इदम् त्वया कृतम् न च अस्मि शक्ता हि निवारणे तव ।
हता सपुत्रा अस्मि हतेन संयुगे सह त्वया श्रीः विजहाति माम् अपि ॥ ॥४-२३-३०॥
na me vacaḥ pathyam idam tvayā kṛtam na ca asmi śaktā hi nivāraṇe tava । hatā saputrā asmi hatena saṃyuge saha tvayā śrīḥ vijahāti mām api ॥ ॥4-23-30॥
Translation
"You did not follow my wholesome advice, nor was I able to prevent you. With you being killed in battle, I am also destroyed along with my son. Along with you, the Glory (Shri) is abandoning me as well."

"आपने मेरे हितकारी वचन का पालन नहीं किया, और मैं भी आपको रोकने में समर्थ न हो सकी। युद्ध में आपके मारे जाने से मैं भी पुत्र सहित मारी गई (बर्बाद हो गई)। आपके साथ ही 'श्री' (शोभा/लक्ष्मी) मुझे भी छोड़कर जा रही है।"
English Commentary
Tara expresses deep regret and pragmatic realization in this verse. She recalls her 'pathyam' (wholesome/beneficial) advice which Vali ignored, leading to this catastrophe. She blames herself partly for not being able to stop him ('na ca asmi śaktā'). The line "I am destroyed along with my son" is significant; in the ancient context, the death of the protector-king meant the widow and the heir were vulnerable to the successor (Sugriva). Tara realizes that her identity as the Queen and her 'Shri' (fortune/status) are tied inextricably to Vali. With his death, she anticipates a fall from grace. It is a moment of clear-sighted despair, acknowledging that the consequences of this single death will ripple through the rest of their lives.

यह सर्ग का अंतिम श्लोक है, जहाँ तारा अपनी कूटनीतिक और व्यक्तिगत हार को स्वीकार करती है। उसने वाली को सुग्रीव से लड़ने से मना किया था और राम के खतरे के प्रति आगाह किया था ('हितकारी वचन'), किन्तु वाली ने अहंकारवश उसे अनसुना कर दिया। तारा का यह कहना—"न च अस्मि शक्ता" (मैं रोकने में समर्थ नहीं हुई)—उसकी आत्म-ग्लानि को दर्शाता है। वह मानती है कि पति की मृत्यु के साथ पत्नी का सामाजिक और राजनीतिक अस्तित्व भी संकट में पड़ जाता है। "मैं भी पुत्र सहित मारी गई"—इसका अर्थ शारीरिक मृत्यु नहीं, बल्कि आश्रय और सम्मान की मृत्यु है। तारा जानती है कि सत्ता परिवर्तन के साथ उसका और अंगद का भविष्य अंधकारमय हो सकता है।
