Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
शायिता निहता यत्र त्वया एव रिपवः पुरा ।
विशुद्ध सत्त्व अभिजन प्रिययुद्ध मम प्रिय ॥ ॥४-२३-७॥
Śāyitā nihatā yatra tvayā eva ripavaḥ purā । Viśuddha sattva abhijana priyayuddha mama priya ॥ ॥4-23-7॥
Translation
O you of pure strength and noble birth, O lover of battle, my beloved! You lie in the very place where enemies were previously slain and laid to rest by you.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे विशुद्ध सत्व और उच्च कुल वाले! हे युद्ध-प्रेमी मेरे प्रिय! आप वहीं लेटे हैं जहाँ पहले आपने अपने शत्रुओं को मारकर सुलाया था।
English Commentary
Tara highlights the cyclical nature of violence. She addresses Vali with high honorifics—"Vishuddha sattva" (pure essence/strength) and "Abhijana" (noble descent)—affirming his status. However, she points out the grim reality: he is lying on the same ground where he once laid out his vanquished foes. The commentary focuses on the irony that the "Lover of Battle" (Priyayuddha) has met the same fate as his victims. The victor has become the victim, occupying the same space in death as those he defeated, leveling all distinctions of power.

यह श्लोक "कौएटिक जस्टिस" (Poetic Justice) या समय के चक्र का संकेत देता है। तारा वाली को 'विशुद्ध सत्व' (पवित्र बल वाले) और 'अभिजन' (कुलीन) कहकर सम्मानित करती हैं। वह याद दिलाती हैं कि यह वही रणभूमि है जहाँ वाली ने अनेकों शत्रुओं को सुलाया था। आज वह स्वयं उसी स्थान पर लेटे हैं। यह जीवन की नश्वरता और हिंसा के चक्र को दर्शाता है—जो तलवार से जीता है, वह तलवार से ही गिरता है। 'प्रिययुद्ध' (जिसे युद्ध प्रिय हो) विशेषण यहाँ एक दुखद विडंबना (irony) के रूप में प्रयोग किया गया है।
