शूर भार्याम् हताम् पश्य सद्यो माम् विधवाम् कृताम् ।
अवभग्नः च मे मानो भग्ना मे शाश्वती गतिः ॥ ॥४-२३-९॥
Śūra bhāryām hatām paśya sadyo mām vidhavām kṛtām । Avabhagnaḥ ca me māno bhagnā me śāśvatī gatiḥ ॥ ॥4-23-9॥
Translation
Behold me, the wife of a hero, now destroyed and instantly made a widow. My pride is shattered, and my eternal course (future happiness and security) is broken.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वीर की पत्नी, मुझे देखिए, जो अब मारी गई है (जीते जी मृतक समान है) और तत्काल विधवा बना दी गई है। मेरा मान टूट गया है और मेरी शाश्वत गति (सुख और भविष्य) नष्ट हो गई है।
English Commentary
Tara grapples with her sudden fall from the pinnacle of status to the depths of despair. She juxtaposes her identity as a "Shura bharya" (Hero's wife) with her new reality as a "Vidhava" (widow). When she says she is "Hatam" (killed/destroyed), she refers to the death of her social self and happiness, not her physical body. The commentary highlights the concept that in the context of that era, a woman's "Mana" (honor/pride) and "Gati" (path/destiny) were intrinsically tied to her husband. His death is, therefore, the destruction of her world and established order.

तारा यहाँ अपनी नई और कष्टदायक पहचान को स्वीकार करती हैं। 'शूर भार्या' (वीर पत्नी) होना एक समय उनका सबसे बड़ा गौरव था, जो अब उनके दुख का कारण बन गया है। 'हताम्' (मारी गई) शब्द का प्रयोग शारीरिक मृत्यु के लिए नहीं, बल्कि आत्मिक और सामाजिक मृत्यु के लिए किया गया है। भारतीय समाज में पति ही स्त्री का 'मान' (सम्मान) और 'गति' (सहारा/भविष्य) माना जाता था। वाली के जाने के साथ ही तारा का सामाजिक रुतबा और भविष्य की सुरक्षा एक ही क्षण में (सद्यो) ध्वस्त हो गई है। यह श्लोक पहचान के संकट (Identity Crisis) को दर्शाता है।
