अचिंतनीयम् परिवर्जनीयम् अनीप्सनीयम् न अन्वेक्षणीयम् ।
प्राप्तो अस्मि पाप्मानम् वयस्य भ्रातुर् वध त्वाष्ट्र वधात् इव इन्द्रः ॥ ॥४-२४-१३॥
acintanīyam parivarjanīyam anīpsanīyam na anvekṣaṇīyam । prāpto asmi pāpmānam vayasya bhrātur vadha tvāṣṭra vadhāt iva indraḥ ॥ ॥4-24-13॥
Translation
"O friend, by the killing of my brother, I have incurred a sin similar to what Indra incurred by killing the son of Tvashtra—a sin that is unthinkable, to be avoided, undesirable, and not to be looked at."
हिंदी अनुवाद
"हे मित्र (राम)! जैसे इन्द्र को त्वष्टा के पुत्र (विश्वरूप) का वध करने से पाप लगा था, वैसे ही भाई के वध से मुझे ऐसा पाप लगा है जो अचिंतनीय (सोचने योग्य नहीं), परिवर्जनीय (त्यागने योग्य), अनिच्छनीय और देखने योग्य भी नहीं है।"
English Commentary
Sugriva elevates his guilt to cosmic proportions by invoking the myth of Indra and Vishwarupa (son of Tvashtra). Killing Vishwarupa caused Indra to incur Brahmahatya (the heinous sin of killing a Brahmin). Sugriva feels his fratricide is equivalent to that ancient sin. He uses a string of strong adjectives to describe this sin: it is unthinkable, strictly to be avoided, undesirable, and repulsive to even look at. Addressing Rama as vayasya (friend), he confesses that he has fallen into a spiritual abyss. The allusion suggests that just as Indra had to suffer and expiate his sin, Sugriva now fears the karmic consequences of his deed.

सुग्रीव अपने पाप की तुलना देवराज इन्द्र के ब्रह्महत्या के पाप से करता है। पौराणिक कथा के अनुसार, इन्द्र ने त्वष्टा प्रजापति के पुत्र विश्वरूप का वध किया था, जो एक घोर पाप माना गया था। सुग्रीव अपने कृत्य को चार विशेषण देता है: 'अचिंतनीयम्' (जिसके बारे में सोचना भी भयानक है), 'परिवर्जनीयम्' (जिसे हर हाल में छोड़ देना चाहिए था), 'अनीप्सनीयम्' (जिसकी इच्छा कभी नहीं करनी चाहिए), और 'न अन्वेक्षणीयम्' (जिसकी ओर देखना भी नहीं चाहिए)। यह सुग्रीव के मानसिक बोझ को दर्शाता है। वह खुद को इन्द्र के समान पापी मान रहा है, लेकिन इन्द्र देवता थे और सुग्रीव एक वानर, इसलिए उसका भय और भी अधिक है।
