समाजिकापय काष्ठानि शुष्काणि च बहूनि च ।
चन्दनानि च दिव्यानि वालि संस्कार कारणात् ॥४-२५-१४॥
samājñāpaya kāṣṭhāni śuṣkāni ca bahūni ca |
candanāni ca divyāni vāli saṃskāra kāraṇāt ॥4-25-14॥
Translation
Issue commands to collect plenty of dry wood and divine sandalwood for the purpose of Vali's funeral rites.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वाली के संस्कार (अंत्येष्टि) के लिए बहुत सी सूखी लकड़ियाँ और दिव्य चंदन की लकड़ियाँ मंगवाने की आज्ञा दो।
English Commentary
This verse details the preparations befitting a royal funeral. The specific mention of 'divine sandalwood' (candanāni divyāni) alongside dry wood indicates the high status of the deceased. Sandalwood is precious and reserved for the wealthy and noble. By asking Sugriva to 'issue commands,' Lakshmana is subtly pushing him into his administrative role as the new King. It also provides Sugriva a channel to express respect for his late brother, helping to alleviate any lingering guilt through the grandeur of the service.

यह श्लोक राजसी अंत्येष्टि की तैयारियों को दर्शाता है। साधारण लकड़ी के साथ 'दिव्य चंदन' का उल्लेख यह बताता है कि वाली एक महान राजा थे और उनका अंतिम संस्कार उसी वैभव के साथ होना चाहिए। सुग्रीव को 'आज्ञा' देने के लिए कह कर लक्ष्मण उन्हें राजा के रूप में कार्य करने के लिए प्रेरित कर रहे हैं। यह सुग्रीव के लिए अपने भाई के प्रति सम्मान प्रकट करने का अवसर भी है, जिससे उनके मन का ग्लानि-भाव कम हो सके।
