Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
एवम् उक्त्वा तु सुग्रीवम् सुमित्र आनन्द वर्धनः ।
तस्थौ भ्रातृ समीपस्थो लक्ष्मणः पर वीरहा ॥४-२५-१९॥
evam uktvā tu sugrīvam sumitra ānanda vardhanaḥ |
tasthau bhrātṛ samīpastho lakṣmaṇaḥ para vīrahā ॥4-25-19॥
Translation
Having spoken thus to Sugriva, Lakshmana, the enhancer of Sumitra's joy and slayer of enemy heroes, stood near his brother.
हिंदी अनुवाद
सुमित्रा के आनंद को बढ़ाने वाले और शत्रु-वीरों का नाश करने वाले लक्ष्मण, सुग्रीव से ऐसा कहकर अपने भाई (श्रीराम) के समीप खड़े हो गए।
English Commentary
Lakshmana exemplifies the ideal deputy. He stepped in to organize the chaos, issued clear directives to the paralyzed Sugriva, and once the machinery was in motion, he immediately returned to his subordinate position near Rama. He does not seek to rule but to serve. The epithet 'Para-viraha' (slayer of hostile heroes) contrasts with his current administrative role, showing that true valor includes the wisdom to manage sorrow and duty with equal competence.

लक्ष्मण का चरित्र यहाँ एक आदर्श सेवक और भाई के रूप में उभरता है। उन्होंने संकट की घड़ी में नेतृत्व किया, आवश्यक निर्देश दिए, और जैसे ही कार्य सुग्रीव को सौंपा गया, वे वापस अपने स्थान—श्रीराम के समीप—आ गए। वे अधिकार का अतिक्रमण नहीं करते। 'परवीरहा' विशेषण उनके उस सामर्थ्य की याद दिलाता है जो आवश्यकता पड़ने पर शत्रुओं का नाश करता है, लेकिन यहाँ वही शक्ति व्यवस्था बनाने में लगी है।
