Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
इमाः ताः तव राजेन्द्र वानर्यो अप्लवगाः तव।
पादैः विकृष्टम् अध्वानम् आगताः किम् न बुध्यसे ॥ ॥४-२५-४४॥
Imāḥ tāḥ tava rājendra vānaryo aplavagāḥ tava। Pādaiḥ vikṛṣṭam adhvānam āgatāḥ kim na budhyase ॥ ॥4-25-44॥
Translation
"O King of Kings! These are your Vanara women who, usually not prone to walking long distances, have covered the difficult path on foot to reach here. Do you not recognize them?"
हिंदी अनुवाद
"हे राजेंद्र! ये आपकी वे वानरियां हैं जो (स्वभाव से) पैदल चलने में समर्थ नहीं थीं, फिर भी पैरों से लंबा मार्ग तय करके यहाँ आयी हैं। क्या आप इन्हें नहीं पहचान रहे हैं?"
English Commentary
Tara tries to rouse Vali by highlighting the suffering of his wives. Describing them as unaccustomed to rough travel ("aplavagāḥ" in this context implies those who don't usually leap/travel like wild monkeys), she points out the extreme lengths they have gone to, walking difficult paths to be with him. The question "Do you not recognize them?" is a rhetorical plea, hoping that his protective instinct towards his wives might defy death itself.

तारा वाली को जगाने का प्रयास कर रही है, यह याद दिलाकर कि उसकी रानियाँ कष्ट सह रही हैं। 'अप्लवगाः' का अर्थ यहाँ उन रानियों से है जो आमतौर पर महलों में रहती थीं और उबड़-खाबड़ रास्तों पर नहीं चलती थीं। उनका पैदल चलकर आना उनकी भक्ति और हताशा को दर्शाता है। तारा पूछती है "किम् न बुध्यसे" (तुम क्यों नहीं जागते/समझते), जो उसकी इस आशा को दिखाता है कि शायद उसका पति अपनी प्रिय पत्नियों के कष्ट को देखकर उठ खड़ा होगा।
