Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
सुग्रीवेण ततः सार्धम् अंगदः पितरम् रुदन् ।
चिताम् आरोपयामास शोकेन अभिप्लुत इन्द्रियः ॥ ॥४-२५-४९॥
Sugrīveṇa tataḥ sārdham aṅgadaḥ pitaram rudan । Citām āropayāmāsa śokena abhipluta indriyaḥ ॥ ॥4-25-49॥
Translation
Then, weeping alongside Sugriva, Angada placed his father on the funeral pyre, his senses overwhelmed by grief.
हिंदी अनुवाद
तब सुग्रीव के साथ रोते हुए अंगद ने अपने पिता को चिता पर रखा। उस समय उनकी (अंगद की) इंद्रियां शोक से व्याकुल हो रही थीं।
English Commentary
This verse captures the heaviest moment of the funeral rites: placing the body on the pyre. Angada, the son and chief mourner, performs this duty with the assistance of his uncle Sugriva. The phrase "shokena abhipluta indriyaḥ" (senses flooded/overwhelmed by grief) indicates Angada's near-collapse state. It highlights the deep familial bond and the tragedy of a son having to cremate his mighty father. The collaboration of Sugriva signifies family unity in the face of death.

यह श्लोक अंतिम संस्कार के सबसे कठिन क्षण का वर्णन करता है—शव को चिता पर रखना। अंगद, जो पुत्र होने के नाते मुख्य उत्तराधिकारी और अंतिम संस्कार का कर्ता है, सुग्रीव (चाचा) की सहायता से यह कार्य करता है। 'शोकेन अभिप्लुत इन्द्रियः' वाक्यांश अंगद की मानसिक स्थिति को दर्शाता है; वह इतना दुखी है कि उसकी सुध-बुध खो रही है। यह पीढ़ी के परिवर्तन का भी प्रतीक है, जहाँ पुत्र अपने पिता के शरीर का भार उठा रहा है।
