संस्कृत्य वालिनम् तम् तु विधिवत् प्लवगर्षभाः ।
आजग्मुः उदकम् कर्तुम् नदीम् शुभ जलाम् शिवाम् ॥ ॥४-२५-५१॥
Saṃskṛtya vālinam tam tu vidhivat plavagarṣabhāḥ । Ājagmuḥ udakam kartum nadīm śubha jalām śivām ॥ ॥4-25-51॥
Translation
Having duly cremated that bull among monkeys (Vali), the foremost Vanaras went to the river of auspicious and holy waters to offer libations.

उस वानरश्रेष्ठ (वाली) का विधिवत संस्कार करके, वे श्रेष्ठ वानर जलांजलि देने के लिए शुभ और पवित्र जल वाली नदी पर आए।
English Commentary
After the cremation (Sanskara), the rite of "Udak-karma" (offering water to the deceased) is mandatory. The Vanaras move from the cremation ground to the river. The adjectives "shubha jalam" (auspicious water) and "shivam" (propitious/holy) contrast with the somber nature of the funeral, offering spiritual cleansing for the mourners and peace for the departed soul. It marks the transition from the act of burning to the act of purifying.

दाह संस्कार के बाद 'उदक कर्म' (जल तर्पण) अनिवार्य होता है। वानर चिता की अग्नि से दूर, शीतलता और शुद्धि के लिए नदी की ओर जाते हैं। नदी को 'शुभ जलाम्' और 'शिवाम्' (कल्याणकारी) कहा गया है, जो मृत्यु की अशुभता के विपरीत जीवन और शुद्धि का प्रतीक है। यह दृश्य श्मशान की गर्मी और धुएं से निकलकर नदी की शांति की ओर संक्रमण को दर्शाता है।
