न कालः कालम् अत्येति न कालः परिहीयते ।
स्वभावम् च समासाद्य न कश्चित् अतिवर्तते ॥४-२५-६॥
na kālaḥ kālam atyeti na kālaḥ parihīyate |
svabhāvam ca samāsādya na kaścit ativartate ॥4-25-6॥
Translation
Time never oversteps Time (its own laws), nor does Time ever diminish. Once destiny (or one's nature/death) approaches, no one can surpass or escape it.
हिंदी अनुवाद
काल (समय) कभी काल का अतिक्रमण नहीं करता (अर्थात अपनी मर्यादा नहीं छोड़ता), और न ही काल कभी क्षीण होता है। अपने स्वभाव (मृत्यु) को प्राप्त होकर कोई भी प्राणी उससे बच नहीं सकता।
English Commentary
This verse underscores the immutability and invincibility of Time. Time adheres strictly to its own laws and never falters or fades. Rama implies that Vali’s death was not an accident or a mistake, but an inevitable event dictated by Time. Even the mightiest warrior cannot outrun their own mortality once the moment arrives. By presenting death as an inescapable law of nature rather than a victimizing event, Rama helps the grieving family understand that resistance to this reality is futile. It is a call to submit to the supreme order of the universe.

काल की सर्वशक्तिमत्ता का वर्णन यहाँ किया गया है। समय न तो कभी रुकता है, न ही अपनी गति बदलता है, और न ही किसी के साथ पक्षपात करता है। 'न कश्चित् अतिवर्तते' का अर्थ है कि चाहे कोई कितना भी बलशाली क्यों न हो—जैसे स्वयं वाली—वह मृत्यु के निश्चित समय को टाल नहीं सकता। श्रीराम यह समझा रहे हैं कि वाली का अंत निश्चित था, बाण तो केवल एक माध्यम था। यह श्लोक मृत्यु की अनिवार्यता को स्वीकार करने की प्रेरणा देता है, जिससे मन को शांति मिलती है।
