न प्रवेक्ष्यामि हनुमन् पितुर् निर्देश पालकः ।
सुसमृद्धाम् गुहाम् दिव्याम् सुग्रीवो वानरर्षभः ॥ ॥४-२६-१०॥
Na pravekṣyāmi hanuman pitur nirdeśa pālakaḥ । Susamṛddhām guhām divyām sugrīvo vānaraṛṣabhaḥ ॥ ॥4-26-10॥
Translation
"O Hanuman, observing the command of my father, I shall not enter. Let Sugriva, the bull among monkeys, enter this prosperous and divine cave-city."
हिंदी अनुवाद
"हे हनुमान! पिता की आज्ञा का पालन करता हुआ मैं (नगर में) प्रवेश नहीं करूँगा। (किंतु) वानरश्रेष्ठ सुग्रीव इस अत्यंत समृद्ध और दिव्य गुहा (किष्किंधा) में प्रवेश करें।"
English Commentary
Rama draws a clear line between his duty and Sugriva's privilege. He reiterates that his refusal is due to filial obedience ("pitur nirdesha"). However, he encourages Sugriva to enter and enjoy the "prosperous and divine" city. This contrast highlights Rama's sacrifice: he secures the kingdom for his friend but refuses to partake in its luxuries himself. He authorizes the transfer of power, ensuring Sugriva takes possession of the capital immediately.

राम अपनी स्थिति स्पष्ट करते हैं—वे 'पितुर् निर्देश पालकः' (पिता के आदेश के रक्षक) हैं। उनका जीवन व्यक्तिगत सुख के लिए नहीं, बल्कि पितृ-आज्ञा के पालन के लिए है। इसके विपरीत, वे सुग्रीव को नगर में जाने की अनुमति और आशीर्वाद देते हैं। किष्किंधा को 'सुसमृद्धाम्' (अत्यंत समृद्ध) और 'दिव्याम्' (दिव्य) कहा गया है, जो वाली के शासन में इसकी भव्यता को दर्शाता है। राम चाहते हैं कि सुग्रीव इस समृद्धि का भोग करें, जबकि वे स्वयं तपस्वी का जीवन जियें।
