शतशः पक्षि संघैः च नाना नाद विनादिता ।
एकैकम् अनुरक्तैः च चक्रवाकैः अलंकृता ॥ ॥४-२७-२०॥
Śataśaḥ pakṣi saṅghaiḥ ca nānā nāda vināditā । Ekaikam anuraktaiḥ ca cakravākaiḥ alaṅkṛtā ॥ ॥4-27-20॥
Translation
It is resonant with the diverse sounds of hundreds of flocks of birds and is adorned with Chakravaka birds that are deeply devoted to one another.

यह नदी सैकड़ों पक्षी-समूहों के नाना प्रकार के कलरव से गूँज रही है और एक-दूसरे पर आसक्त रहने वाले चक्रवाक पक्षियों से सुशोभित है।
English Commentary
The river is alive with the sound of birds. Rama specifically notes the Chakravaka birds, describing them as ekaikam anuraktaiḥ (devoted to one another). In Sanskrit poetics, Chakravakas symbolize conjugal love. Seeing them together highlights the irony of Rama's situation—surrounded by nature's couples while he suffers separation from Sita.

'चक्रवाक' पक्षी (चकवा-चकवी) दांपत्य प्रेम और निष्ठा का प्रतीक माने जाते हैं। श्रीराम द्वारा 'एकैकम् अनुरक्तैः' (एक-दूसरे में अनुरक्त) विशेषण का प्रयोग उनकी स्वयं की मनोदशा को दर्शाता है। जहाँ चकवा-चकवी साथ हैं, वहाँ श्रीराम सीता से वियुक्त हैं। पक्षियों का कलरव वन की जीवंतता का प्रमाण है।
