Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
शरत् कालम् प्रतीक्षस्व प्रावृट् कालो अयम् आगतः ।
ततः स राष्ट्रम् स गणाम् रावणम् तम् वधिष्यसि ॥ ॥४-२७-३९॥
Śarat kālam pratīkṣasva prāvṛṭ kālo ayam āgataḥ । Tataḥ sa rāṣṭram sa gaṇām rāvaṇam tam vadhiṣyasi ॥ ॥4-27-39॥
Translation
This rainy season has arrived; therefore, wait for the autumn. Then, you shall slay that Ravana along with his kingdom and his troops.
हिंदी अनुवाद
यह वर्षा ऋतु आ गई है, अतः आप शरद ऋतु की प्रतीक्षा करें। उसके बाद आप उस राक्षन का उसके राष्ट्र और गणों (सेना) सहित वध करेंगे।
English Commentary
Moving from emotional support to strategic planning, Lakshmana acknowledges the constraints of nature. The arrival of the rainy season (prāvṛṭ kāla) makes travel and warfare impossible. He advises patience, reframing the waiting period not as inaction, but as a prelude to inevitable victory. He assures Rama that once autumn (śarat kāla) arrives, Ravana's destruction, along with his entire state infrastructure, is guaranteed.

अब लक्ष्मण व्यावहारिक योजना पर आते हैं। वर्षा ऋतु में सैनिक अभियान और वानरों की खोज-बीन कठिन होती है, इसलिए 'प्रतीक्षा' ही एकमात्र विकल्प है। यह श्लोक धैर्य का पाठ पढ़ाता है। लक्ष्मण आश्वस्त करते हैं कि यह विलंब कमजोरी नहीं, बल्कि रणनीति है। शरद ऋतु आते ही विजय अभियान आरंभ होगा और रावण का सर्वनाश निश्चित है।
