Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
अहम् तु खलु ते वीर्यम् प्रसुप्तम् प्रतिबोधये ।
दीप्तैः आहुतिभिः काले भस्म चन्नम् इव अनलम् ॥ ॥४-२७-४०॥
Aham tu khalu te vīryam prasuptam pratibodhaye । Dīptaiḥ āhutibhiḥ kāle bhasma cannam iva analam ॥ ॥4-27-40॥
Translation
I am indeed only awakening your dormant valor, just as fire covered by ash is kindled by pouring ghee (oblations) at the appropriate time.
हिंदी अनुवाद
मैं तो आपके सोए हुए वीर्य (पराक्रम) को उसी प्रकार जगा रहा हूँ, जैसे समय पर दी गई आहुतियों के द्वारा राख से ढकी हुई अग्नि को प्रज्वलित किया जाता है।
English Commentary
Lakshmana humbly clarifies his role using a powerful Vedic metaphor. He compares Rama's valor to a sacred fire (analam) temporarily covered by the ash of grief. Lakshmana's encouraging words act as the oblations (āhutibhiḥ) poured into the fire to rekindle it. This signifies that Rama's strength is innate and eternal, merely needing a stimulus to shine forth again amidst the gloom of separation.

यह एक अत्यंत महत्वपूर्ण श्लोक है। लक्ष्मण स्पष्ट करते हैं कि वे श्रीराम को कोई नया ज्ञान या शक्ति नहीं दे रहे हैं, बल्कि श्रीराम के भीतर जो शक्ति शोक रूपी राख से ढक गई थी, उसे केवल हटा रहे हैं। लक्ष्मण स्वयं को उस 'आहुति' के समान मानते हैं जो अग्नि को प्रज्वलित करती है। यह सेवक और सखा का परम धर्म है—स्वामी को उसके वास्तविक स्वरूप का भान कराना।
