Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
कृत्वा च समयम् रामः सुग्रीवेण सह अनघ ।
काल युक्तम् महद् वाक्यम् उवाच रघुनन्दन ॥ ॥४-२७-५॥
Kṛtvā ca samayam rāmaḥ sugrīveṇa saha anagha । Kāla yuktam mahad vākyam uvāca raghunandana ॥ ॥4-27-5॥
Translation
Having made a pact with Sugriva, O sinless one, the scion of Raghu (Rama) spoke words that were significant and appropriate for the time.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे निष्पाप (लक्ष्मण)! सुग्रीव के साथ (वर्षा ऋतु के बाद सीता की खोज आरम्भ करने का) समझौता करके, रघुनन्दन राम ने समय के अनुकूल यह महत्वपूर्ण बात कही।
English Commentary
Rama addresses Lakshmana, acknowledging the samayam (covenant/pact) established with Sugriva. The agreement was to wait out the rainy season before mobilizing the search for Sita. Rama speaks words described as kāla yuktam (appropriate to the time/season), highlighting his wisdom and adherence to Dharma. Even in his deep anguish over Sita's separation, Rama respects the constraints of the season and his word given to a friend. He does not demand immediate action which would be strategically disastrous in the monsoon. This verse establishes Rama's composure and his role as a disciplined leader who acts according to time and place.

श्री राम लक्ष्मण को संबोधित कर रहे हैं। यहाँ 'समयम्' शब्द उस प्रतिज्ञा या समझौते के लिए है जिसके अनुसार वर्षा ऋतु बीत जाने तक प्रतीक्षा करनी थी और उसके बाद सीता की खोज शुरू होनी थी। राम 'काल युक्तम्' (समय के अनुकूल) वचन बोलते हैं, जो उनकी धीरता और विवेक को दर्शाता है। यद्यपि वे सीता के विरह में व्याकुल हैं, फिर भी वे जानते हैं कि वर्षा काल में अभियान चलाना संभव नहीं है। वे धर्म और नीति के ज्ञाता हैं, इसलिए वे अधीर होकर सुग्रीव पर तुरंत दबाव नहीं डालते, बल्कि प्रकृति के नियमों और दिए गए वचन का सम्मान करते हैं।
