अस्याम् वस्त्याम सौमित्रे वर्ष रात्रम् अरिंदम ।
गिरि शृंगम् इदम् रम्यम् उत्तमम् पार्थिवात्मज ॥ ॥४-२७-७॥
Asyām vastyāma saumitre varṣa rātram arindama । Giri śṛṅgam idam ramyam uttamam pārthivātmaja ॥ ॥4-27-7॥
Translation
"O Sumitra's son! O tamer of enemies! We shall dwell here for the duration of the rainy season. This mountain peak is delightful and excellent, O Prince."

"हे सुमित्रानन्दन! हे शत्रुओं का दमन करने वाले! हम वर्षा ऋतु (की रातों) में यहीं निवास करेंगे। हे राजकुमार (पार्थिवात्मज)! यह पर्वत शिखर अत्यंत रमणीय और उत्तम है।"
English Commentary
Rama formally proposes that they spend the varṣa rātram (the rainy season) in this specific location. The address pārthivātmaja (son of a King) is poignant here; it contrasts their royal heritage with their current rugged reality living on a giri śṛṅgam (mountain peak). By calling Lakshmana arindama (subduer of enemies), Rama subtly reminds him of his martial prowess, implying that this period of dormancy is temporary and will be followed by action against their foes. It is a moment of settling in, accepting the pause imposed by nature before the war begins.

राम औपचारिक रूप से चातुर्मास (वर्षा ऋतु के चार महीने) यहीं बिताने का निर्णय घोषित करते हैं। वे लक्ष्मण को 'पार्थिवात्मज' (राजा का बेटा/राजकुमार) कहकर संबोधित करते हैं। यह संबोधन एक मार्मिक विरोधाभास उत्पन्न करता है—दो राजकुमार, जो महलों के अधिकारी थे, अब एक गुफा में रह रहे हैं। 'वर्ष रात्रम्' का अर्थ यहाँ पूरी वर्षा ऋतु से है। राम लक्ष्मण को 'अरिंदम' (शत्रुदमन) कहकर उनका क्षत्रिय तेज याद दिलाते हैं, मानो कह रहे हों कि यह विश्राम केवल प्रतीक्षा है, इसके बाद शत्रुओं का नाश निश्चित है।
