तडित् पताकाभिः अलंकृतानाम् उदीर्ण गंभीर महा रवाणाम् ।
विभान्ति रूपाणि बलाहकानाम् रण उत्सुकानाम् इव वारणानाम् ॥ ॥४-२८-३१॥
Taḍit patākābhiḥ alaṅkṛtānām udīrṇa gambhīra mahā ravāṇām । vibhānti rūpāṇi balāhakānām raṇa utsukānām iva vāraṇānām ॥ ॥4-28-31॥
Translation
Adorned with lightning as their flags and emitting terrible deep roars, the shapes of the clouds appear like elephants eager for battle.
हिंदी अनुवाद
बिजली रूपी पताकाओं (ध्वज) से सजे हुए और भयानक गंभीर गर्जना करने वाले बादलों के रूप ऐसे सुशोभित हो रहे हैं, जैसे युद्ध के लिए उत्सुक हाथी हों।
English Commentary
The martial imagery continues. The monsoon sky is compared to a battlefield preparation. The massive, dark clouds are the war elephants. The streaks of lightning are the flags fluttering above them. The thunder is their trumpet call. They look 'eager for war,' capturing the aggressive and energetic movement of the storm front.

युद्ध की उपमाएँ क्षत्रिय श्रीराम के मन के अनुकूल हैं। आकाश एक रणक्षेत्र बन गया है। बादल हाथी हैं, बिजली उनके झंडे हैं, और बादलों की गरज युद्धघोष है। 'रण उत्सुकानाम्' (युद्ध के लिए उतावले) शब्द बादलों की गति और आक्रामकता को दर्शाता है।
