Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
सुरतामर्दविच्छिन्नाः स्वर्गस्त्रीहारमौक्तिकाः।
पतन्ति चातुला दिक्षु तोयधाराः समन्ततः॥ ॥४-२८-५१॥
Suratāmardavic Chinnāḥ svargastrīhāramauktikāḥ। Patanti cātulā dikṣu toyadhārāḥ samantataḥ॥ ॥4-28-51॥
Translation
The incomparable streams of water falling all around in every direction appear as if they are pearls falling from the necklaces of celestial women, broken during the ardor of lovemaking.

सभी दिशाओं में गिरती हुई अनुपम वर्षा की धाराएं ऐसी लग रही हैं मानो रतिक्रीड़ा के दौरान स्वर्ग की अप्सराओं के टूटे हुए हारों से मोती गिर रहे हों।
English Commentary
This verse employs a classic romantic metaphor (Utpreksha). The falling rain is imagined not as meteorological precipitation but as celestial debris. The poet visualizes that in the heavens, during the passionate embrace (surata-marda) of celestial beings, their pearl necklaces have snapped, and the rain drops are actually those pearls falling to earth. This reflects the poetic convention of connecting the rainy season with passion and intimacy.

यह 'उत्प्रेक्षा अलंकार' का एक श्रृंगारिक उदाहरण है। कवि वर्षा की बूंदों को केवल पानी नहीं मानता, बल्कि उन्हें स्वर्ग में चल रही क्रीड़ा का परिणाम मानता है। आकाश में बादलों का घर्षण और बिजली का चमकना मानो देवताओं और अप्सराओं का मिलन है, और वर्षा की बूंदें उस मिलन में टूटे हुए आभूषण हैं। यह राम के विरही हृदय की कल्पना है जो प्रकृति में भी प्रेम और संयोग के चिन्ह देखता है।
